The conference will be held at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, UK. St Andrews is Scotland's first university and the third oldest in the English-speaking world, founded in 1413. Over six centuries it has established a reputation as one of Europe's leading and most distinctive centers for teaching and research and boasts impressive conference facilities with excellent residential accommodation.

The city of St Andrews is situated 50 miles northeast of Edinburgh in the Kingdom of Fife. There has been a settlement on the site of the city from at least the sixth century AD. Since then the city has played an important part in the history of the development of Scotland. St Andrews is set in a spectacular position. On one side it has the wooded hills of the Fife countryside but to the north and east it looks out over a rocky headland to the dramatic waters of the North Sea. The town of St Andrews offers easy walking with an excellent choice of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. With award winning beaches and world renowned golf courses, St Andrews is a truly remarkable location.

By air

From Edinburgh Airport you can take the coach Jet 747 to Inverkeithing railway station (approx. 20 minutes) and then by rail to Leuchars (approximately 45 minutes).

Airlink

From Edinburgh Airport you can proceed by Airlink bus to the centre of Edinburgh (Haymarket or Waverley Stations) and then by rail to Leuchars.

By train

There is no railway station in St Andrews. The nearest railway station to St Andrews is Leuchars (5 miles) on the main line from London King's Cross via Edinburgh, or Aberdeen.

Shuttle Bus from Leuchars Train Station
We will provide a shuttle bus service from Leuchars Train Station on the afternoon of Tuesday, 4 September which will call at the conference venue for registration as well as all University Halls of Residence.

Alternatively, from Leuchars St Andrews may be reached by car, taxi or by service bus (2 to 3 buses per hour between 9am and 6pm, and less frequently at other times - see Bus timetables for details).
